Why Does Claude Keep Going Down?

The honest answer — Anthropic's infrastructure simply cannot keep up with demand.
Anthropic admitted this publicly, saying demand for Claude has grown at an unprecedented rate and their infrastructure has been stretched to meet it, particularly at peak hours. They added they are scaling compute rapidly through partnerships with Amazon and Google, but that new capacity has not yet arrived.
The numbers explain why. Anthropic's annualized revenue climbed from $9 billion at end of 2025 to more than $30 billion in early April 2026, with enterprise clients doubling in under two months. The infrastructure was simply not built for that pace of growth.

The Lawsuit Nobody Is Talking About

Making things worse, Anthropic is now facing a class-action lawsuit. Filed June 14 2026 in California, the lawsuit alleges that Claude Max plans deliver far less usage than advertised — the Max 20x plan allegedly provides only 6 to 8 times the base usage instead of the promised 20 times. Both the lawsuit and the outages trace to the same problem — infrastructure that cannot match what was sold to users.

What Are Users Saying?

Frustrated users flooded social media. One user wrote "Claude is down, no updates from @claudeai, and my tasks are just sitting there judging me" while another said "Claude down. And now I realize how much I depend on it."
